Modern Encounters in Architecture Kathmandu Valley – No Specified Author

The early buildings that were constructed over three decades after the Kathmandu Valley opened up in the 1950s, demonstrated an aspiration towards modernization. They expressed the practical requirements of new building types, engineered construction methods and modern architecture forms derived from the contemporary functions. This exhibition is the first documentation of buildings built between 1945 to 1985 that demonstrate important architectural achievements of early modernization in Nepal. The exhibition and the book are an attempt to understand and initiate a dialogue on this important period of architectural history of Nepal.
