The basic source of creating and maintaining cohesiveness in an economy is the strategy. Strategy creates a boundary line between objectives, policies and policy instruments geared towards well as qualitative achievement of quantified targets as improvements in the concerned economy and society. Lack of strategy, therefore, leads an economy towards institutionalization of ad hoc decision making and directionlessness.
The experience about the continuing poor performance of the Nepalese economy largely explains the gaps inherent in the development of a consistent set of strategies focused on creation of new and intensification of the existing productive forces in the economy. Based on macro-economic exercises, the author has attempted to identify crucial components of development strategies for result-oriented development efforts.
