Lakshu’s Silence – Anbika Giri

It is so hard to grow up as a girl in our society! My best friend Lakshu is a girl. I can sing and laugh and jump, but Lakshu has to learn the proper way to walk, to talk, to laugh, and to cook and clean around the house.
When Lakshu stopped talking, I had to learn to listen to her silence! Why does our society treat girls so differently from boys? This is our story – yours, and mine!
