Town Halls Answer to Nepal’s Democratic Challenges – Mukul Sharma

Nepal joined the democratic world in the third wave of democratization, in 1990. After two local, three national and and two Constituent Assembly elections, people are finding the promises of democracy – good governance, rule of law and social equity, eclipsed by corruption, favoritism and impunity. The challenge to democracy is not less democracy but more democracy, the study recommends increased people’s participation in democratic processes and explores the usefulness of town hall  meeting in Nepali context.
